They wanted creative control.
They wanted me to send them an outline before creating the video and they would
tell me if the outline was ok - or let me know what they wanted me to change 😱
This was a deal breaker for me -- and even though I get offers like this all the time (mostly from Amazon product sellers) I know that by turning down this deal, I'm leaving money on the table!
Here's the thing
My goal is to share tools, tips and advice to help YOU succeed online. Of course I want to be compensated for my work but that does not mean I'm willing to accept deals to create content for products and services just to make sales for any old
brand!
For example, one of my favorite brands to promote and create tutorials for is Streamyard. When it comes to browser-based, live streaming (and recording) software they are the best. They have a lot of competitors and a few of them have reached out to me offering to pay me to create promotional content for them also.
But as long as Streamyard sticks to their 3 pillars (ease of use, stability and professional live streams) they will always be my recommendation. Simply because I think they are the best tool for YOU!
I hope this message hits home with you and gives you something to
ponder the next time you are offered a brand deal.
To be clear, I'm not saying you need to do things my way I just wanted to let you to know where I stand.
Reach out to me if you ever want to chat about any offers you may be considering.
Speaking of Streamyard (affiliate link) before I go, I want to remind you about their special deal that ends Friday December 3rd at 11:59pm ET.
